Come dire, le persone innocenti vanno sempre a pagare per le colpe dei veri colpevoli. Un detto quanto mai vero e attuale, che in alcune zone dell'isola è reso più specifico con la forma "'a corda ruppa ruppa, a sciogghi cu non ci cuppa".
LA PAROLA "RUPPA" o "RUPPU" -che appunto in siciliano significa "nodo"- deriva da "groppo" che a sua volta trae origine dal germanico antico "kruppah" (ammasso rotondo)
